Sustainable Mobility Plan

Move the community forward in terms of active transportation strategies and initiatives. With a focus on low income populations, the plan will examine the mobility of individuals and the impact mobility has on the health, environment, and the economy.

The document will be included in the next official plan developed by the City of Greater Sudbury. It is also a strategic document that will be included in the Transportation Master Plan which ultimately affects all new projects that are undertaken.

We had collaboration for the community. There were very many community organizations that sat on steering committees. Focus groups were set up across the community to get feedback from the community. A literature review was completed. Other cities’ best practices were reviewed to ensure that all avenues were covered.

The Sustainable Mobility Plan was accepted by the municipal government and now is key strategic planning document for future projects.

The plan contributes significantly to policy level as related to the city’s official plan. All new and revised Infrastructures must comply with the Official Plan.
