Open Call to Host 14th Global RCE Conference in 2025

The Global RCE Service Centre is excited to announce an open call to host the 14th Global RCE Conference, celebrating the 20th anniversary of RCE in 2025.

Since its inception in 2005, the global RCE network has expanded from 7 to 190 RCEs (as of August 2024), continuing to grow under international frameworks for promoting Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). The RCEs worldwide have played a pivotal role in fostering learning and actions through multi-stakeholder partnerships at local levels to achieve the fundamental transformation towards a more equitable, just, and sustainable world.

In 2025, the network will celebrate its 20th anniversary, a milestone that aligns with the midpoint of both the RCE Roadmap 2021-2030 and the ESD for 2030 framework. This moment offers a vital opportunity to reflect on progress, tackle challenges, and energize future efforts in advancing Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 4) enabling all SDGs.

The Global RCE Conference provides a platform for sharing knowledge, discussing ideas, and fostering collaboration within and beyond the network, while monitoring and evaluating RCE progress.

HOSTING ELIGIBILITY AND GUIDELINES:

RCEs interested in hosting the 14th Global RCE Conference are welcome to apply. The conference can be hosted by an individual RCE or jointly hosted through collaboration with other RCEs.

Since RCEs are multi-stakeholder networks, it is important to involve involvement of various actors (organisations and individuals) from within the RCE is critical in hosting duties.

When proposing a date and venue, please consider any global, regional, or local ESD/SD conferences or events in your region that could align with the Global RCE Conference.

The Global RCE Service Centre will support the selected RCE(s) in designing the conference programme, coordinating a timeline, and promoting events through UNU-IAS channels.  However, please note that host RCE is requested to cover the organisational costs.

NOTE ABOUT CALL FOR HOSTING REGIONAL MEETINGS IN 2025

Please note that in 2025, the Global RCE Service Centre will not issue an open call to host Regional RCE Meetings, as the focus will be on the 14th Global RCE Conference. However, RCEs in the respective regions are encouraged to continue holding regular meetings to facilitate collaboration among RCEs and beyond, streamline efforts towards the Global RCE Conference, and share valuable experiences and insights at this critical event.

The Global RCE Service Centre plans to organise online capacity-building sessions on Action-oriented Pedagogies for ESD in 2025, and it may be possible to link these regional meetings with the training sessions. Further details will be announced at a later date.
