RCE Bohol

After more than a year since its acknowledgement by UNU, the Regional Centre of Expertise on ESD in Bohol - RCE Bohol - finally made its formal launching on January 3, 2013 at Bohol Island State University (BISU) main campus in Tagbilaran City, Bohol, Philippines. Though ESD activities and programmes are already well underway, the RCE Bohol team decided to organize an official launch party in order to ensure that the wider public and other cause-oriented organizations would know of RCE-Bohol and the possibilities for greater participation and collaboration.

The launch was graced by the presence of Mario T. Tabucanon, from the Global RCE Service Centre at UNU-IAS, as the guest speaker and inducting officer. The launch was attended by representatives of stakeholder organizations of RCE Bohol including the BISU system with various campuses, provincial government, government agencies, non-governmental organizations, academe, and civil society. A representative of a partner university – the Southern Leyte State University - intending to establish an RCE in the region where it is situated also attended to observe the activities of RCE Bohol.

The highlights of the program were the formal launching, unveiling of the tarp marker, and induction of officers led by Dr. Elpidio Magante, President of BISU and Chairman of the governing board of RCE Bohol.
