Provide a short description of the project including strategies, regional challenges, aims and specific project activities.:

GVSU students in the NRM 450 Applied Spatial Analysis of Natural Resources class created a landslide risk model for St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG). SVG is a disaster-prone country in the southern Caribbean. Nordman previously collaborated with the Pan American Development Foundation to write a curriculum in disaster risk reduction (DRR) and climate change adaptation for SVG. 106 young adults from three vulnerable SVG communities participated in the curriculum with ended in October 2015. The GVSU students are linking with PADF staff and young adults in SVG via conference calls and Skype. The students will share their results with the communities who can then incorporate them into their community disaster plans.

Description:
GVSU students in the Winter 2015 NRM 450 class finished a preliminary assessment. They presented their work at a statewide Michigan GIS conference and won awards in the undergraduate and graduate student competitions. The students in the Fall 2015 class are building on and refining the previous analysis. The results will be shared with PADF staff and communities in SVG in December 2015.
