5. Project description
Provide a short description of the project including strategies, regional challenges, aims and specific project activities.:

This event, hosted on September 23-24, at Native American Youth and Family Center (NAYA), brought together a panel of indigenous speakers and allies who identified how we would organize society differently if it were based on indigenous wisdom.  Organized by Milt Markewitz, GPSEN Think Tank member, the event included presentations and conversations with Aleut Elder, Ilarion (Larry) Merculieff who led sessions and talking circles, impelled by questions related to consciousness, pathways to problem-solving and ways to inspire people to pull together to re-achieve ecological and social balance and harmony.  An evening panel discussion on ‘Indigenous Wisdom’ explored how to overcome the devastation of colonization, and provide the leadership for dealing with Global Climate Change and the difficult times that will accompany it.
