Description of RCE and Geographic Region:

RCE Vienna aims at a sustainable society where people engage with their socio-ecological systems through an open learning process.
By applying transformative education we want to foster people’s out of the box thinking in order to participate in constructing a sustainable society.

We apply transformative education in the field of “socio-economic development and the environment”. Herein, we start with the following topics:

  • Science-Society Interfaces / Knowledge Alliances
  • Sustainability driven entrepreneurship
  • Smart city
  • Collaborative consumption /sharing economy
  • Mobility
  • Ecosystem valuation and communication
  • Citizen science

In all of these topics, special attention is dedicated the “dialogue between science and society”, the stakeholder-specific communication of the results, and the cooperation with regional educational systems.

    • Collaborative research-education projects (universities and schools)
    • Implementation and dissemination/translation projects
