Description of RCE and Geographic Region:

RCE KwaZulu-Natal collaborates with various partners in ESD, in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa, in the Midlands region of Pietermaritzburg and northwards.

All individuals and organisations in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands who seek more sustainable practices through ESD are welcome to join and collaborate.

  • Sustainability Starts with Teachers (SST) in 11 countries in partnership with UNESCO and Rhodes University

Achievements:
  • Hosted the AfriAlliance workshop on Citizen Science for the southern African region
  • Supported the Umzimvubu Catchment Project – catchment-wide sustainable living
  • Supported NaDEET (in Namibia) to win the UNESCO award for 2018 (US $ 50,000)
