COP20/CMP 10 Meeting: Lima Ministerial Declaration on Education and Awareness Raising

One of the major outcomes of the COP20/CMP10 Alliance meeting. After the adoption, Minister Korolec, COP 19/CMP 9 President, said that "this declaration is an important step towards bringing education back into the spotlight where it belongs".

9th Global RCE Conference Marks Final Year of the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development

UNU-IAS held the 9th Global Regional Centres of Expertise (RCE) Conference in Okayama, Japan on 4–7 November 2014. It was one of the major stakeholder meetings convened prior to the UNESCO World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), held in Nagoya, Japan on 10–12 November. Both events marked the final year of the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (DESD), 2005–2014.

Travel support is available for selected RCE youth representatives through the Global RCE Service Centre. The selection will be made based on certain criteria including their level of engagement with the RCEs, quality of the applications as well as the geographical balance of the participants.

Kenya and UNEP host National e-Waste Conference and
Exhibition

Nairobi, 28 May 2014 - A National e-Waste Conference and Exhibition was held in Nairobi, Wednesday, to identify solutions to Kenya's mounting e-waste problem. Focusing on the potential economic and environmental benefits of the responsible management of e-waste, stakeholders discussed ways to reduce the hazards arising from the disposal of electronic equipment in Kenya.

Draft Report on 3rd African RCE Continental Meeting

RCE Minna in collaboration with the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Global RCE Service Centre convened the 3rd African RCE Continental Meeting in Abuja on 20-21 August 2013. Over 100 participants drawn from African RCEs, National Universities Commission, the Global RCE Centre and the Niger State government attended the meeting. The first day of the meeting examined development and achievements of African RCEs with regard to community-engaged research.
