Education Day at COP23 Highlights Importance of Education to Combat Climate Change

Education Day at COP23 was held on 16 November 2017 in Bonn, Germany, bringing together participants to discuss the critical role of education, both in developing strategies to combat climate change as well as efforts towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event included a series of activities showcasing climate education around the world, in addition to a high-level event on climate education, ‘Uniting for Climate Education’ and an Award Ceremony for the ‘Global Youth Video Competition on Climate Change’.

Decentralised Energy Interventions in China, India, and Thailand – Success Factors and Policy Recommendations

This ProSPER.Net project was led by TERI University, as a collaboration between the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), and Tongji University. It showed a detailed assessment of the policy and regulatory interventions, more specifically, the fiscal and financial instruments shaping the development of decentralised energy systems in China, India, and Thailand.

Annual Meeting 2016 of RCE Greater Dhaka Connects Community Activities to the SDGs

On 24 October 2016, RCE Greater Dhaka held their Annual Meeting under the theme ‘Initiatives to promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)’ at the International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT), Dhaka, Bangladesh. 24 October was UN Day, the anniversary of the launch of the UN Charter.

RCE Curitiba Paraná, together with several universities, hosted the 5th RCE Americas Meeting on 19-23 October, 2016 in Curitiba, Brazil. The theme of the meeting was "Renewable Energy and Sustainable Education", and was held in parallel with a regional symposium on Low Carbon Economy, Renewable Energy and Cities.

Americas RCE Meeting concludes with collaborative Action Plan for the Region

The Regional RCE Meeting of the Americas was hosted by RCE Curitiba-Parana in Curitiba, Brazil from 19-24 October, 2016 with the support of United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS). The theme of this year’s meeting was "Renewable Energy and Sustainable Education", and was held in parallel with a regional symposium on Low Carbon Economy, Renewable Energy and Cities. Participants could join virtually through a specified Skype account.

Non-State Climate Actors World Summit Provides Platform for Concrete Engagement

The Climate Chance Summit, the first meeting of its kind, specifically focused on non-state actors’ contributions to greenhouse gas emission (GHG) reductions and adaptation to climate change, was held on 26-28 September in Nantes, France. Among the 3,000 participants were city governments, sub-national governments, NGOs, the private sector, and universities.
