1. Project title: 
Exposure and involvement of teachers in ESD outdoor facilities and activities
2. Project Description: 
In this project the fist step was to update the directory of organizations/institutes and activities available e.g. waste management, media, SMEs, energy provision, Environmental Education centres, and organizations that can provide career guidance and environmental education. Secondly, to contact organizations and institutes on a face-to-face basis to discuss their contributions and assistance to schools. The next step would then be to visit teachers at schools. Workshops should be conducted with teachers to expose and explain the concept of ESD. The directory of organizations should be provided to teachers. Teachers should be assisted to take students to their choice of organizations that will meet their needs. We will implement an incentive called the “eco-teacher” award to motivate teachers .

10. Project results : 
o date a survey was conducted where companies within the Khomas region was contacted. This remains to be done for the Erongo region. Unfortunately, the response was not very positive and therefore it seems that this project will have to be revisited in order to either give it a slightly new direction or encourage companies.

At organizational level it promoted collaboration

We were surprised by the high degree of unwillingness of companies to support visits and activities for school groups.

The companies/institutes/organizations can provide opportunities for students and scholars to visit them and be exposed to the outdoor environment and/or the various job opportunities that exist. Therefore, these companies can assist in basic career guidance. One of the challenges that many schools face is provision of transport to their students. The business companies can assist them in this way. Presently there are only a few companies who are willing to provide the assistance the RCE may need from them.
