The scavenging activity is done school drop-out youths and women who spend their time on the dump site recovering waste and latter sell it in the communities to small scale business entrepreneurs. These small scale entrepreneurs buy things like bottles, plastics and metal items which they use to manufacture other goods or repackaging other liquid products.

Challenges

• The main is that the Local authority has have no capacity to manage the dump site hence the increase in the number of scavengers on the landfill.

• The other challenge is lack of awareness by scavengers on the risk of conducting business in the landfill.
