Introduction:

Most of the historic masonry building including in World Heritage City of Melaka are susceptible to deterioration due to the use of inappropriate repair techniques and materials. These issues could be resolved by creating awareness and educating the building owners or keepers on the best wat to repair and maintain their properties.

Regional Challenges:

Melaka Museum Corporation or Perbadanan Muzium Melaka (PERZIM) was extablished in 1984 and its main objectives are to educate and preserve the tangible and intangible cultural heritages associated not only with Melaka and Malaysia but also global. Nearly three quaters of the museums are historic masonry buildingswhich construsted using lime based materials. For years buildings have been repaired and maintenance using inappropriate materials due to many reasons including lack of traditional materials and skilled workers. As a result, most of the building are susceptible to deterioration and damage caused by the use of incompatible and irreversible materials.

Objectives:

2. To practice on preparing material and applying it on building

3. To implement skill on the actual building.
