Socioeconomic and environmental characteristics of the area : 
Inje County was a battlefield during the Korean War from 1950 to 1953, and is still an disconnect zone of war and confrontation in the middle of the demilitarized zone. Inje County is located at the intersection of Baekdudaegan, the main ecological axis of the Korean peninsula, and DMZ and has the best ecosystem diversity and abundance in Korea due to limited development activities due to military reasons, geographical location and natural conditions.

It is a report of the ecosystem of Korea with a population of 20 people per square kilometer, and it is a mountain village school. The water quality of the 19 rivers which have the highest oxygen content in the whole country and which is used for drinking water is very good and there are 18 places, and one good place is clean and clean air and water area.

More than 1 million tourists visit the area annually to visit the natural environment. There are Soraksan National Park, Korea's first UNESCO Biosphere Reservation Area, Korea's first Ramsar Wetland No. 1 Mt, Daeham Yongneup, DMZ, Birch Forest

The Inje cheolli-trail pursues the health of individuals, society, and the earth, and is operated by voluntary participation of residents. We guarantee the right to walk easily and safely for everyone, from small children to the elderly and disabled person. In order to hand over the traditional knowledge, culture, and beautiful environment to future generations, we restore the old roads disappearing due to development, preserve the environment, and pursue a coexisting life between humans and nature.

Rationale: 
Inje was a battleground during the Korean War in 1950-1953 and is still a disconnected area of ​​war and confrontation between the two Koreas in the middle of the demilitarized zone.,Inje County is located at the intersection of Baekdudaegan and DMZ, which are the main ecological axis of the Korean peninsula. It is also the best ecosystem diversity and abundance in Korea because of the limited development activities due to military reasons, geographical location and natural conditions.

More than one million tourists are looking for Inje in order to meet these natural environments. The main tourist attractions are Seoraksan National Park, Birch Forest, Baekdamsa Temple, and Daeamsan Yongshu, the first UNESCO Biosphere Reserve area in Korea.
Objectives: 
Along with making the Inje cheolli-trail, the walking program purpose to revive the history, culture, tradition, and environment of the road by creating a trail that people can walk, not by car, and by restoring the old road that connected villages to villages.
Activities and/or practices employed: 
The Inje cheolli-trail is made by the residents and is a trail for residents. The history and culture stories of the 34 trails are organized by the residents, and the course design was made mainly by middle school students, high school students, and university students from Inje.
The production and installation of ribbons for safe walking, and design of signs and letters were also conducted with the participation of members and local volunteers.
These people's trails created the foundation for anyone to safely move around the Inje area.
In addition to getting healthy through walking exercise, it was an opportunity to think about nature, environment, rivers, culture, traditions, etc. by visiting villages in our region through a weekly walking program. In particular, the fact that we realized the inconvenience of public transportation as we did not use a private car and improved the transportation system in 2019 is the result of this activity. In addition, they have been walking the river and looking for traces of the river cleansing movement and independence movement from 2019.
lately, also found the footprints of the endangered species, the half-moon black bear at cheolli-trail course 4.
Results: 
inje cheolli-trail has established itself as a representative walking path in Inje.
Each course 30~50 Participant walks every week, and a festival is held every year with local governments.

External participants are encouraged to go through agricultural product sales centers in Inje, which helps in revitalizing the local economy. In 2020, it established a non-profit corporation to form and operate a systematic organization.

Key messages: 
The principle of inje cheolli-trail is 1. Let's make a trail for people 2. Let's make a dirt trail. 3. Consider the environment except for safety. 4. Discover history and culture. Relationship to other RCE activities: 
RCE Kitakyushu visited inje cheolli-trail 10 sections(Pilye Maple Road) in 2016. In addition During a tour of the Kyushu area at a shinnam high school in the Inje area in 2019, there was a plan to walk the Oshima Island route among the Kyushu Olle Trail.
Funding: 
Every week, the cost walking program is strictly personally prepare in principle, and the Operating expenses is covered by membership dues. Labor costs are funded membership dues and sale local specialties. Local governments help in areas that require budget, such as festivals, course book production, and road maintenance.
