Rationale:
° This book has been created as a tool for providing materials, activities and knowledge concerning the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

° Writing this book has taught its Young Authors many important lessons, such as:
-- They are amazed and pleased with themselves for having completed the arduous task of writing and re-submitting the book for fourteen rounds of revision.
-- They have learned that tenacity and hard work lead to excellence
-- They have discovered their own capabilities beyond their expectations
-- They have realized that if they dare to 'think big,' they can achieve things much beyond the ordinary
-- They have improved their English skills in the process of writing and revising the book. Please note that every one of the Young Authors is a native speaker of the Spanish language.
-- Their self-confidence and pride in their achievement have grown immensely through this process.
-- They have become 'young authorities' in the Sustainable Development Goals
-- They have come to love and to gain- hopefully- a lifelong commitment to sustainable development for their communities, for the country and the planet.
Objectives:
Global Objectives
° To create a tool for providing materials, activities and knowledge concerning the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
° To make the book available free of charge to people wishing to teach about the Sustainable Development Goals anywhere on the planet.

Objective concerning our student writers:

The Young Authors will:
° Be amazed and pleased with themselves for having completed the arduous task of writing and re-submitting the book for fourteen rounds of revision.
° Learn that tenacity and hard work lead to excellence
° Discover their own capabilities beyond their expectations
° Realize that if they dare to 'think big,' they can achieve things much beyond the ordinary
° Improve their English skills in the process of writing and revising the book.
° Gain self-confidence and a sense of pride in their achievement through this process.
° Be recognized as 'young authorities' in the Sustainable Development Goals
° Come to love and to gain- hopefully- a lifelong commitment to sustainable development for their communities, for the country and the planet.
Activities and/or practices employed:
By the end of this arduous task, the students were tired yet very exhilarated by the fact that they had been able to publish such a piece of work.

The fact the that the RCE Program cared enough to invite RCE BMU Youth Coordinator Ramón Hernández to present the book in Japan humbled and excited our Young Authors-- several of whom had very limited experiences beyond Northern México or, at best, maybe having travelled to some part of the United States.

The gracious acceptance of the book by the RCE program, allowing us to place the honorable RCE logos on their book, and the placing of their work on the RCE website as a contribution to Sustainability Education worldwide have been experiences that have transformed these talented young people for the good for the rest of their lives. Our Young Authors have grown boundlessly as a result of the SDG Teachers' Resource Book project.

Thank you RCE, for honoring our kids and their great efforts!
Size of academic audience:
Learners directly involved in the project- around twenty. Audience who we hope will make use of the book: Countless
Results:
° Our Young Authors created a book on the SDGs titled United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Teachers' Resource Book.
° The students learned a great deal and grew boundlessly as human beings through this process.
° The book has been made available to users around the world, as UNU-IAS has graciously placed it on the RCE website.
Lessons learned:
The students learned that excellence in writing requires tenacity, critique and re-drafting. They have grown by understanding that their limits are boundless if they dare to aim high and to put their very best efforts into their work.

Opportunities- RCE BMU is planning to launch a Spanish language Teachers' Resource Book for the SDGs in early 2019. The upcoming book will not be a translation of the English-language original; rather, it is to grow organically from the Spanish-speaking milieu, and to make use of ESD materials available in the Spanish language.

If UNU-IAS and the RCE Program are in agreement, RCE BMU staff would be honored to help spearhead an effort to create SDGs Teachers' Resource Books in all the official UN languages, and in local languages as needed.
Key messages:
It would be extremely valuable to create SDGs Teachers Resource Books in all the UN languages and in others as needed.

The task is arduous, but our youth are up to it, as long as they have professional editors willing to journey with them, and to help them 'grow into it' and to be ultimately successful as Young Authors for the SDGs.

Our youth are forever transformed for the good through participation and completion of this task. Their end product is highly valuable when it is made available to users worldwide through the RCE website.

Relationship to other RCE activities:
Since the book is about the SDGs, we feel that it is fairly well linked to RCE tasks and to the RCE mission in general.
