Provide a short description of the project including strategies, regional challenges, aims and specific project activities.:

This community event, titled "7.5 Billion and Counting: Where are We Headed?" was held on Thursday, April 13, at the Ecotrust Building.

Local non-profit, Investments for Developing Communities (IDC), in collaboration with Portland’s GPSEN and Center for Biological Diversity, invited attendees to learn about current issues related to global population growth. Guest speakers John Seager, president and CEO of Population Connection, in Washington D.C., and Suzanne York, project director for Transition Earth of the Earth Island Institute in Berkeley, CA, presented latest statistics and field notes related to areas of advocacy, education and project work. With Earth quickly approaching 7.5 billion people, it’s time to make global population growth, with its overarching connections to the environment and human rights, a mainstream issue. Kim Smith facilitated the discussion.
