RCE Melaka


RCE Melaka serves as the mediator in connecting the multispectral network of expertise, both formal and non-formal with the local community in an effort to accelerate and expand our collective capacity towards building a sustainable future.
RCE Melaka includes the complete administrative jurisdiction of the Government of Melaka. RCE Melaka includes the three districts under separate jurisdiction namely central Melaka, Alor Gajah and Jasin and four local councils namely Melaka Historical City Council, Hang Tuah Jaya Municipal Council, Alor Gajah Municipal Council and Jasin District Council.

RCE Melaka is a network of multidisciplinary stakeholders from public, private, academic, non-governmental organisations and civil society. The population of Melaka is expected to be 1,150,800 by the year 2040. Although Melaka has a smaller population in size, it is economically vibrant and plays a significant role in national growth. The formation of RCE Melaka is very important, particular at the current point in time, to optimise the competitive advantage and retain its leading role in the region.
Vision
A Healthy, Resilient and Livable Melaka that promotes Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) across the society to address the problems identified in the key challenges of the region.
Objectives
- Create an interdisciplinary and adaptable platform for promotion of education for sustainable development and facilitate the exchange of ideas and knowledge.
- Educate and empower young people to make positive decisions and become change makers by gaining employable skills for a sustainable future.
- Build the capacity and understanding of the youth community to be a change-maker and mobilise the community to contribute their best in building a sustainable economy.
- Composition of integrated database and research to guide the preparation of informed policy decisions to tackle sustainable development challenges.
- Empowers young people to take an educated stand on the environment, social and economic issues they feel strongly about and gives them a platform to articulate these issues through the media of writing, photography or video.
