European RCEs Meet to Promote Social and Environmental Justice

On June 23-24, 2016 about 50 participants from 17 European RCEs met at London South Bank University (LSBU) in London to hold the annual European RCE Meeting. On the first day of the conference, overshadowed by UK’s decision to leave the European Union, European RCEs affirmed their solidarity and commitment to future collaboration to promote social and environmental justice.

RCE North East uses documentaries to highlight gender issues and environmental activism

Cinema Politica Newcastle by RCE North East, a project that received the RCE Award 2015 in Category B “Acknowledged Flagship Project (Project Type: Community Engagement)” was set up in 2010 by a group of environmental scientists who wanted to explore, discuss and act on issues related to environmental sustainability. During the first steps of the project the team decided to make documentaries to highlight under-represented viewpoints, and to provide a safe space for discussion and debate. These films were publicly accessible.

RCE Dublin and RCE Oldenburger Münsterland meet at UNESCO conference

The conference "Bridging Education and Science for Sustainable Development" held in Daugavpils, Latvia on 2-3 December 2015, was organized by the Latvian National Commission for UNESCO in cooperation with the UNESCO Chair at the Daugavpils University, Ilga Salite and the National Centre for Education.

RCEs from The Netherlands and Germany join hands to connect Youth to the outdoors

ACEWild (Alternative Curriculum Education out of the Wild) is an initiative that shows schools with pupils aged 11-16, how they can support disadvantaged or more vulnerable young people in gaining experiences, qualifications and work opportunities in the outdoors. The aim is to connect these young people to the environment. The focus of this project is on Vocational Education, Learning and Training. ACEWild is an Erasmus funded project with partners from the UK, the Netherlands and Germany.
