HABITAT III Youth Consultation Survey

HABITAT III is an intergovernmental process that aims to secure a renewed political commitment to sustainable urban development. It also seeks to assess accomplishments to date, address poverty and identify and address new and emerging challenges around human settlements. The UN Major Group for Children and Youth (UN MGCY) as the Major Groups mentioned in Agenda 21has been mandated by General Assembly resolution resolution 67/216 to facilitate the meaningful participation of children and youth throughout this process.

United Nations Global Education First Initiative (GEFI): Advocacy Training for Young Leaders in Global Citizenship Education

The United Nations Global Education First Initiative (GEFI) will organize an advocacy training workshop for young leaders in Global Citizenship Education (GCED) from the 30th March to 4th April 2015, at the Geumjeong Cultural Center in Busan, Republic of Korea.

Organized in partnership with the Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU) and the Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP), the workshop aims to build the capacity of dynamic young leaders from across the world to advocate for GCED.

Climate change pushes India's poorest children into slavery

NEW DELHI (Thomson Reuters Foundation) - Disasters resulting from climate change are pushing poor Indian families into poverty so deep that they are lured by traffickers into selling their children into bonded labour or prostitution, Nobel Peace Laureate Kailash Satyarthi said on Thursday.

"I have witnessed many incidents where the children became the worst victims of environmental disasters caused by climate change and these kind of things," Satyarthi told Reuters TV on the sidelines of a conference on climate change.

UNICEF report: The Investment Case for Education and Equity

Education is in crisis worldwide. Millions of children, especially the most marginalized, are excluded from school. Many millions more attend school, but they do not learn basic reading and math skills. In addition, international funding for education is on the decline. The Investment Case for Education and Equity explains the global education crisis and outlines solutions. It calls for an increase in funding for education and investments that are more equitable and efficient.


ISSC calls for proposal for Transformative Knowledge Networks worth €900,000

A new long-term vision to address today’s great challenges of global environmental change and sustainability via enduring social transformations and social change is launched today with an initial 2.7 M € three-year commitment from the International Social Science Council.
