Wenhui Award for Educational Innovation 2015: Innovations for Skills Development for the Future

The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) provided some answers to the question: what sorts of skills are needed to cope with continuous change, and how can these skills be developed? According to a recent survey, senior business executives agree that the top three skills their companies need are problem solving (50%), team working (35%) and communication (32%). Of some concern, however, is the perception of skills gap in the workplace by 52% of the executives.

Bonn conference on global transformations

RCE middle Albania participated in the Bonn Conference on Global Transformations, 12-13 May 2015, in Germany. The conference stressed the necessity of interactions and activations of platforms, for including sustainability in Post-2015 Agenda, stressing the fact the development goals have to be named Sustainability goals. This initiative was supported by Sustainable Development Solutions Network DESD and United Nations University in Bonn UNU-EHS.

UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL) CONFINTEA Scholarships

In September 2015 UIL will offer four CONFINTEA research scholarships for a period of one month each to researchers from UNESCO Member States (particularly from the global South). The scholarships are mainly based on private donations from the British educationalist Peter Jarvis and his publisher Taylor & Francis and the Nomura Centre for Lifelong Integrated Education in Japan.

ISSC calls for proposal for Transformative Knowledge Networks worth €900,000

A new long-term vision to address today’s great challenges of global environmental change and sustainability via enduring social transformations and social change is launched today with an initial 2.7 M € three-year commitment from the International Social Science Council.

Invitation for Co-Operation

Please find enclosed our ‘Invitation for Cooperation’ of RCE’s on the continental level. An invitation we have been working on past month in order to pick up the constructive cooperation of RCEs in Europe now that the GAP is ready to take off and the Okayama Declaration has been published . In this phase, awaiting your ideas and proposals, this is no more than a well meant initiative to establish more togetherness of the RCE’s themselves. From thereon to further consider what the whole group wants to work on, propose, discuss, organize or not, plan, do.

My Experience with RCE-Greater Pwani

Hello everyone!

Would like to express my sincere thanks to the Global RCE and more so the United Nations University for having awarded me travel support to attend YUVA MEET 2014 in New Delhi. It was a good opportunity for me as I met and made new friend as well as learning some new stuff specifically the skill of being confident during presentation.

In order to promote Education for Sustainable Development in schools, Punjab State Council for Science & Technology has developed an Activity Book for students which provides children an opportunity to assess their daily habits with respect to use of water, electricity, transportation, food and waste management. A sample chapter on water is uploaded.
