Kelab Alami Bukit Fraser was founded in 2012. The objective of establishment is to give local youth an understanding and appreciation for their natural heritage as well as for exposure to the new possibilities and opportunities. Fraser's Hill is the second club in the Kelab Alami Malaysia network, and the first in the highlands. Local youth will be trained as Youth Rangers and will begin to understand and appreciate their natural heritage and what they can do to take care of it for their next generation. As located in the Important Bird and Biodiversity Area (IBA), Fraser Hill is facing major threat on illegal poaching of some endemic and rare wildlife. Other than that, Fraser Hill is experiencing forest and habitat destruction due to anthropogenic disturbances. The level of awareness on ESD and wildlife conservation among youth are low due to lack of knowledge and exposure. The aim of this project is to empower members of Kelab Alami Bukit Fraser with ESD, wildlife conservation and to educate them as local ambassador of Fraser Hill through the multi phase classroom and outdoor lessons. Towards the end of the training, the participant will be given Youth Ranger badge and be responsible to the sustainability of Fraser Hill through the coordinated practices. All outputs/reports by Youth Ranger will be documented and analyzed for better understanding on current environment thus promoting ESD practices and mitigation plan for local authorities.
