Education for Sustainability Tasmania-2016

a) Criteria/ indicators used to assess aspects of RCE work/ project: Character count 300 words:
Education for Sustainability Tasmania officially launched in October 2016 and is refining the roles and responsibilities of member organisations and deciding on actions for 2017. Through this process, performance indicators to measure organisational effectiveness will be developed, based on our four roles:
- Facilitate collaboration (e.g. number of collaborations resulting from our facilitation)
- Promote (e.g. number of people subscribed to our bimonthly newsletter)
- Build capacity (e.g. number of educators directly assisted by programs run by member organisations)
- Advocate (e.g. number of member organisations)
b) Successes of the RCE and lessons learned: Character count 300 words:
We are feeling very proud to be at the point we have reached. We are launched, we have developed a new website, we have begun seeking new members and secured funding from existing members to employ a part time facilitator. Over the summer we will be developing our action plan for 2017, and preparing to build the capacity of Tasmanian educators to deliver education for sustainability throughout 2017.
c) Challenges experiences: Character count 300 words:
Understanding how we can be most effective is our main challenge. How can we facilitate new collaborations and build capacity in Tasmania over and above what is already being done? Our member organisations and their Steering Committee representatives are very motivated and through our summer planning we will decide on initiatives that will enable educators to foster the knowledge, skills, values and worldviews necessary for people to act in ways that contribute to more sustainable patterns of living.
