RCE Vienna
RCE Vienna aims at a sustainable society where people engage with their socio-ecological systems through an open learning process.
By applying transformative education we want to foster people’s out of the box thinking in order to participate in constructing a sustainable society.
We apply transformative education in the field of “socio-economic development and the environment”. Herein, we start with the following topics:
- Science-Society Interfaces / Knowledge Alliances
- Sustainability driven entrepreneurship
- Smart city
- Collaborative consumption /sharing economy
- Mobility
- Ecosystem valuation and communication
- Citizen science
In all of these topics, special attention is dedicated the “dialogue between science and society”, the stakeholder-specific communication of the results, and the cooperation with regional educational systems.
- Transdisciplinary Research on sustainable development and ESD
- Applying and offering new methods of teaching and learning
- Initializing regional projects along the lines of a science-society interface (knowledge exchange, stakeholder-dialogues) such as:
- Service learning projects (enterprises, communities, etc.)
- Collaborative research-education projects (universities and schools)
- Implementation and dissemination/translation projects
