it seems that role of policy makers in accelerating ESD implementation is crucial, their involvement in this conference is important so that it is suggested that the representative of those of each relevant countris are invited by the organizers. any comments?

I agree with you Puji. Interactions between RCE actors and policy makers during the conference has the potential of accelerating ESD policy formulation.

I think we should have a very clear session for policy makers that would attend and in doing this, may I suggest that the top management of UNU should be on the ground to lead in the discussion. I don't know at what level the Rector of UNU attends our global conference, as the highest ranking administrator, he should be around to highlight the expectation of the DESD from the policy makers and how they stand to benefit as leaders if this decade is successfully ended.
As for us in Minna, our governor, the Chief Servant is very much interested and supportive. Why cant we use this conference that is taking place in Africa to chart a way of making an impact at the AU through Nairobi declaration 2013?. I have seen how EU is supporting the European RCEs , we should articulate a position for our leaders for presentation to AU. This can best be done if we have a well structured session with clear cut strategies.
As the Chief Servant attends this program, please lets get other leaders that would be present to have a common front for presentation to AU.
Abel, kindly lay our request to UNU that we want to have the Rector in attendance because the RCE movement was a product of Africa so lets use Kenya to penetrate the heart of African politics, AU.
If the AU accept our request, I want to assure you that we would have more support from various governments across Africa.
I implore the organizes to work hard to have the politicians to attend, especially our Governor of kakamega and his President.

Good work. However there is a new dimension too in accelerating policy implementation, and that is to involve political players in the field. I am not saying that politics should be brought to policy making process, no, iam saying that for policy implementation to succeed, there is need to involve political institutions, that is where good will to implement a policy will come from. There have been many instances where even after a policy has been formulated and developed, it has not been able to achieve results because it did not have political goodwill from the stakeholders.
