2023 RCE Youth Art Challenge

The 2023 RCE Youth Art Challenge: From Waste to Art was held in partnership with UNESCO, and focused on the theme of SDG 12 (responsible consumption and production), inspiring others globally on how to use resources more efficiently, reduce waste, and shift to sustainable consumption and production (SCP). RCE Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) Projects

Throughout the period of the Global Action Programme (GAP) on ESD from 2015 to 2019, a total of 115 RCE projects focused on SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) across 31 countries. This video provides an overview of the thematic areas and leading institutions across the projects conducted, and features some of the RCEs who worked on these projects. Hear from them as they explain the issues in their community which have inhibited sustainable consumption and production, and the actions their RCE took to foster responsible consumption and production and the resulting impacts on the community. RCE Youth Biodiversity Art Challenge

The RCE Youth Biodiversity Art Challenge, held in partnership with UNESCO, put a spotlight on the species, habitats, and ecosystems that we need to work to protect, and asked participants to create works of art with a focus on SDG 14 (life below water) or SDG 15 (life on land). RCE Biodiversity Projects During the Global Action Programme (GAP) on ESD

During the Global Action Programme (GAP) on ESD, from 2015-2019, a total of 135 biodiversity education projects were conducted by RCEs across 30 countries. These projects focused on SDG 14 (Life Below Water) or SDG 15 (Life on Land), and were tied to SDG 4 (Quality Education) along with a range of other goals. This video from UNU-IAS provides an overview of the target audiences and thematic areas across the projects completed, following research which analysed the SDGs, themes, institutions, audiences and environments of RCE projects during the GAP. In addition, we hear from a number of RCEs on the actions they took to address the threats to biodiversity in their region, and the impacts these had in their communities. Watch it here.

2021
RCE Youth Climate Art Challenge

The first ever RCE Youth Climate Art Challenge was held in 2021, whereby participants created works of art focusing on SDG 13 (Climate Action) to engage with 'hearts, hands, or heads', the sub-themes for the 12th Global RCE Conference. RCE Climate Projects During the Global Action Programme (GAP) on ESD

Over the period of the Global Action Programme (GAP) on ESD from 2015-2019, RCEs worked on close to 140 climate education projects, spanning the full spectrum of SDGs. In this video, we take a look at trends that emerged from these projects, and hear from a number of RCEs on the challenges they worked to mitigate, their approaches, and the impact their activities had in their communities following the implementation of their climate education projects. RCE Project Trends During the Global Action Programme (GAP) on ESD

During the Global Action Programme (GAP) on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) from 2015-2019, Regional Centres of Expertise on ESD (RCEs) conducted a range of projects; close to 480 across 46 countries. Research was recently conducted on these projects, both at a global and regional level, analysing the SDGs, themes, institutions, audiences and environments across the projects completed, all tied to SDG 4 (Quality Education).
