Strategies

The Museum of Paleontology will offer its lab-workshop as a space for teaching people concrete ways to put into practice the concept of 'reducing-reusing-recycling'.

Regional Challenges

People are more and more stuck in the mold of the throw away consumer society which implicitly pushes us to discard and re-purchase objects in order to make us perpetual consumers.

Aims

° Instill an awareness of the value of used objects

°  Give people the concrete skills needed to restore objects and to render them fully functional for further use, instead of purchasing something new to replace that which-- with a little restoration work-- continues to be valuable and useful.

°  Reduce unnecessary consumption

° Reduce the load on the Earth's natural resources by helping people to a) value that which is not new, b) break free from the mindset of the consumerist trap, c) have the concrete skills to restore used objects to full beauty and functionality, d) encourage people to reduce their consumption of new objects by reusing, restoring and recycling valuable older and used objects

°  Create a potential source of income for those individuals who gain high-level restoration skills, as they may wish to set up small enterprises where they can sell the objects they restore

Project Activities

Courses, workshops and training sessions will be offered where participants learn hands-on how to restore, recycle and reuse objects which consumer society would otherwise be telling us to discard and purchase something new that would fulfill the same purpose.
