Kamiti Catchment is experiencing rise of population due to rural urban migration.Quality of water in this river and environmental degradation is on rise of water and land demands.
Description of sustainable development challenge(s) in the area the project addresses:
Inorder to address environmental degradation,we needed to remove people from the raiparian land area.It was very difficult because that is the only place you can plant vegetables in dry seasons of the year. we thought of ways to remove people without much resistance and where I came up with an idea of fabricating Hydrums.It has worked well and I can stand to say we've notable success.

Rationale:
In everything we need to think and give answers to pressing needs.This is Sdg 6 combined with many others inorder for us to achieve our goals and especially environmental awareness.
Objectives:
Water quality has improved so much and we have managed to plant more than 200,000 water friendly trees and we are now restoring vegetation of that catchment.
Activities and/or practices employed:
Community work and challenges can be good point of learning and implement educational projects as good case study.

Results:
We built several Hydrum water pumps, people are growing crops in the higher ground moving away from raiparian land area.

Lessons learned:
Water quality has now improved and people can now get food and folder for animals in the hihey ground. The greatest challenge is funds and resistance at the beginning .
Relationship to other RCE activities:
We have used RCE as platform for reaching out other for common good.
