RCE Thiruvananthapuram has launched a ‘Campus Leaders for Sustainable Development Programme’ in partnership with various government organisations, private entities, civil society organisations and individual mentors committed to the cause of sustainable development.

The programme aims to identify and mould young leaders from university and college campuses to lead the youth in various realms of sustainability and act as torch bearers for Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).

Activities to be initiated as part of the programme include the analysis and study of sustainability issues, action programmes channelling the power of youth, representing the collective voice of youth to authorities and policy makers, field immersion and working with communities, open discussions and debates, capacity building programs, creating resource materials, and creating social media platforms for ESD.

Mentors involved in the programme are chosen from various fields of expertise to provide a holistic understanding of sustainability. They will mentor campus leaders and equip them with the relevant theoretical knowledge and practical experience to shape them into informed citizens and effective change makers.
