In response to the COVID-19 crisis, and inspired by the Asia-Pacific RCE Coordinating Committee, RCE Srinagar in cooperation with RCE Greater Western Sydney organised a coordinated webinar series titled 'ESD Action in COVID-19 Era: Experiences of RCEs of Asia Pacific Region'.

RCE Srinagar has been putting in efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19 within their region through a number of approaches, beginning with capacity-building – attending various webinars and other events, and then adapting and translating the information gathered to their local area’s context by training RCE partners, volunteers, local NGOs, students and other stakeholders.

RCE Kano and Partners Mark Global Day of Impact for the Almajiri Child

Over the past decades, in northern Nigeria, the Almajiri system has been the major system of education, which precludes children from basic education (Nigeria has the highest number of out of school children in Africa). There are next to no jobs or opportunities for Almajiri adults in the increasingly challenging and competitive world, thus contributing to poverty.

The Education for Sustainable Development Programme at UNU-IAS has worked with Regional Centres of Expertise (RCEs) worldwide to develop a new publication titled ‘Ensure Healthy Lives and Promote Well-being For All: Experiences of community health, hygiene, sanitation and nutrition within Regional Centres of Expertise on ESD’.

CEE Himalaya (the Himalayan regional office of the Centre for Environment Education (CEE) and the secretariat of RCE Srinagar) celebrated International Mountain Day (IMD) 2017 at Ghaghara Ghat, Jarbal Block, Bahraich district, Uttar Pradesh, India on 27 December 2017.

WHO and CBD Link Biodiversity and Health with 1st Interagency Meeting

The first Interagency Liaison Group on Biodiversity and Health (ILG), jointly organized by the Secretariat of Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the World Health Organization (WHO) was held in Geneva on 4-5 May 2017. The core objective of the meeting was to strengthen the collaboration and policy coherence between key agencies that work at the intersection of human health and biodiversity.
