RCE Award 2015 - Outstanding Flagship Projects

We would like to congratulate all winners of the 2015 RCE Award for their Outstanding Flagship Projects.

ll showed the great effort and hard work each RCE puts in towards a better and more sustainable world. A thank you goes to all the researchers and RCE members who took part in the screening and final selection of the winners.

All RCEs received an official certificate to celebrate their Award and those in the ‘Outstanding Flagship Project’ category will receive a commemorating poster which showcases all projects.

No Where to Run - RCE Minna celebrates World Environment Day

Over the past five years, RCE Minna has continued to inspire and educate people through the commemoration of the UNEP World Environment Day (WED).

Additionally, it has been a good way to promote RCE Minna's activities and projects. This year’s WED on the 5th June ¨Go Wild for Life¨ focussed on the fight against illegal wildlife trade. “Go Wild for Life” encouraged everyone to spread the message of the damage done by wildlife crime and how to prevent further damage.

RCE Srinagar, CEE Himalaya and JSW Foundation promote natural resource conservation on the International Day of Forests and World Water Day 2016

The Himalayan state of Uttarakhand in the Central Himalayas of the Indian Himalayan Region, is largely dominated by biodiversity rich forest ecosystem thus making it one of the most unique yet fragile ecosystems. The majority of the traditional hill communities are dependent on natural resources for food, fruits, fuel wood, and fodder along with a variety of ecological services. Traditional belief was that the natural resources are essential for the livelihood and ecological security of mountain regions.

ESD recognized in COP21 agreement

The critical role of education in climate change was given the stamp of approval at the international climate conference, COP21, in Paris in December. Article 12 on education states that “parties shall cooperate in taking measures…to enhance climate change education, training, public awareness, public participation and public access to information.” Read more

RCE Iskandar creates low carbon awareness amongst pupils

RCE Iskandar, in collaboration with many stakeholders and ESD experts, successfully organized the Iskandar Malaysia Ecolife Challenge (IMELC) 2015. The initiative included Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), the Iskandar Region Development Agency (IRDA), the Johor State Education Department (JPNJ), IM KIKO Pte. Ltd., and all 226 primary schools that are partners of RCE Iskandar.

At COP21 in Paris, the Munich Climate Insurance Initiative (MCII) presented key findings on how the G7 InsuReslience Initiative can meet the needs of poor and vulnerable people facing climate risks.
