ESD Okayama Award 2016
Run by Okayama City and the ESD Okayama Award Steering Committee, the Award will reward outstanding ESD practices in local communities around the world to showcase ESD and to support organizations carrying out ESD activities. Deadline for application is 29 July 2016.

The consultative workshop to review the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Environmental Education Action Plan (AEEAP 2014-2018) was held in conjunction with the 8th Meeting of the ASEAN Working Group on Environmental Education (AWGEE) in Singapore 11-12 April 2016.

Since June 2014, around 500 youth champions from 75 teams presented action-oriented, practicable and community participative proposals to address water and sanitation problems.

STARs is a project run by RCE Goa that works with 10 schools in the region with the core goal of improving resource efficiency. The schools also engage with the surrounding communities initiating various socio-environmental campaigns about important socio- cultural issues.

The Himalayan state of Uttarakhand in the Central Himalayas of the Indian Himalayan Region, is largely dominated by biodiversity rich forest ecosystem thus making it one of the most unique yet fragile ecosystems. The majority of the traditional hill communities are dependent on natural resources for food, fruits, fuel wood, and fodder along with a variety of ecological services. Traditional belief was that the natural resources are essential for the livelihood and ecological security of mountain regions.
ACEID 2016 focusses on education and social justice
The International Academic Forum hosted its annual Asian Conference on Education and International Development (ACEID 2016) in Kobe, Japan on 3-6 April. The theme for this year’s event was “Education for Social Justice” and scholars from over 40 countries used the opportunity to discuss the latest trends and topics in education in both national and international development.
