IPBES 2nd Capacity Building Forum sees Capacity Building Rolling Plan take shape

The 2nd IPBES Capacity Building Forum took place in New York on 23 September 2016. 

During the technical session of the IPBES* Capacity Building forum in the morning, participants discussed the Capacity Building Rolling plan at length. Apart from the IPBES Chair, the Secretary and IPBES taskforce members and members from the technical support units, various UN organizations and other stakeholder groups attended the meeting.

Non-State Climate Actors World Summit Provides Platform for Concrete Engagement

The Climate Chance Summit, the first meeting of its kind, specifically focused on non-state actors’ contributions to greenhouse gas emission (GHG) reductions and adaptation to climate change, was held on 26-28 September in Nantes, France. Among the 3,000 participants were city governments, sub-national governments, NGOs, the private sector, and universities.

Guiding Principles of the Global RCE Community

Winners of 2016 UNESCO-Japan Prize for ESD

The three winners of the 2016 UNESCO-Japan Prize on ESD are:

1) the Centre for Community Regeneration and Development (CCREAD-Cameroon) from Cameroon, a youth-lead programme which targets children, youth, women and indigenous groups in marginalized, hard-to-reach communities

2) the Okayama ESD Promotion Commission from Japan, involving 240 organizations which show a highly unusual systemic and city-wide approach to ESD
